Russell Hine

Upon completing his degree in finance and law Russell’s “gap” six months in the bush morphed into a life-changing 5 years in the Sabi Sand Reserve; guiding, ranger training and then two and a half years in hands-on lodge management.

A year spent travelling through Europe was followed by a stint in London during which time Russell and his merchant banker partner started an eco-tourism venture capital company. A burning desire for the African bush led to a return to South Africa and after briefly dallying in the financial Operating predominantly in the luxury segment of the accommodation industry and with a focus on game lodges, mtbeds gave South Africans the ability to experience hotels and lodges previously only affordable to international travellers.

mtbeds led to the development of the first real time online accommodation aggregator in South Africa. Both businesses were subsequently acquired by Comair Ltd. Russell contracted his services to Comair and managed both the online aggregation system and the relationships with a number of large hotel chains for Comair.

Russell’s unwavering passion for the bush recently resulted in a marketing and management contract for a safari lodge in the Manyeleti and the acquisition of a 50% interest in a small game lodge in the Sabi Sand Reserve.

Ros’ post school training at Hotel school was the perfect springboard for her to launch a career in the Toursim industry at the tender age of 19 years old. 34 years later she is still involved in the industry having developed a deep-rooted love for travel in Africa. Her formative years working at Sabi Sabi Game Lodge, ignited a passion for the bush, which still burns brightly.  After jointly managing a game lodge with Russell, she headed off to a “gap” year in London where she successfully opened a division of a South African Tour Operator and Airline consolidator; here began her love of selling Africa.

On her return to South Africa in 1997 she joined Sun International, managing sports and golfing events which led to a high-level involvement in the organisation team of the Million Dollar Golf Tournament.  When her first son was 6 months old, she left Sun International and launched her own sales and marketing business, focussing on selling high end tourism products in Southern Africa. Both the business and her passion for Africa are very much an integral part of her life to this day.  With an in-depth knowledge gained over 34 years in the industry, she knows what customers want or need to make a possible once in a lifetime trip to Africa an unforgettable success.

Her intimate knowledge of suppliers from transfer companies, lodges, guests houses and hotels to the vast array of experiences on offer, enable her to advise guests on the intricacies involved in a successful travel itinerary. When not working hard away at her desk, you will find her and her husband investigating new regions, activities and properties to add to their vast knowledge of all that is Africa.
